Beech Hill Farm, Rushlake Green

Beech Hill Farm is a small, organically-run farm with rare breed sheep, set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It has won two awards – a BETRE Green Action Award for its rain harvesting scheme and a SEEDA Sustainable Business Award for Resource Efficiency – and has been given a gold standard grading by the Green Tourism Business Scheme. The self-catering accommodation consists of the Coach House, an 18th century cottage with a four star English Tourism Council rating, and the Studio Sanctuary. Walkers and cyclists welcome.

Little Marshfoot Farmhouse, Hailsham

Winner of the 2002 Tourism South East Self Catering Holiday Accommodation of the Year Award. It was awarded for their special efforts on environmental management, which include the use of environmentally-friendly cleaning materials. Nearby attractions include Pevensey and Herstmonceux Castle.

The Silverdale Hotel, Seaford

This small hotel, opened in 1992, has won the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) Sustainable Business Award for its environmental efforts. The Cowdrey family are proud of their hotel energy conservation and recycling. They support local producers and promote sustainable transport – encouraging guests to bus, bike or walk to visit local attractions.

White Lodge, Battle

White Lodge is a 1930s family home offering bed and breakfast accommodation. It has been given a gold standard grading by the Green Tourism Business Scheme and has an environmental policy that includes using environmentally friendly products and buying local organic and free range produce where possible. It has also been given a four diamonds rating by VisitBritain, and a silver award for its high level of quality, comfort, cleanliness and hospitality.
